Before the bright colors and prints of the Hawaiian Shirts were popularized, the Palaka print was the iconic cloth and pattern of Hawaii history, dating back to the time of King Kamehameha the Great. Introduced to its shores by infrequent visitors, the Palaka was used as uniforms for the sugar and pineapple plantation field workers. By the early 1900’s, Palaka had a place in every Islander’s wardrobe. Our own H. Miura Store in Haleiwa sewed Palaka clothing and in the 60’s - 80’s sold custom Palaka Surf Shorts complete with coconut buttons; which we owned many pairs of.

Being one of our larger pivot fins, the Pau Hana remains one of the most maneuverable. Its dramatic features make this template ideal for walking the nose...and staying there.
